Virginia Jr. Team Tennis Teams Impress on Final Day of Wildcard Invitational

On Sunday, March 4th, five more teams from Virginia competed in three divisions of the 1st Annual Mid-Atlantic Jr. Team Tennis Winter Wildcard Invitational held at the University of Mary Washington.

Richmond Nomads punched their ticket to District Championships by winning the 18-and-Under Advanced division, winning 85 total games and all four of their team matches. The Nomads swept their male singles, male doubles, and female doubles matches.

The 18-and-Under Intermediate flight with Ridgetop Road Warriors, from Richmond, was one of the most competitive of the weekend. The Road Warriors won all three of their team matches, but fell short of advancing to the divisional playoff match by one game. They won 59 games over their three matches, playing in eight tiebreakers and winning four of them. NOVA Dream Team played in the other 18-and-Under Intermediate flight, finishing third by winning 39 total games.

Woodlake, from Midlothian, finished tied for second in a very competitive 14-and-Under Intermediate flight, where every team won six individual matches. Second place and the top spot were only separated by six total games. Culpepper Sport and Racquet Club finished with 18 games won, sweeping their females singles.
